Artisan Exhibits

Clément Hoeck first discovered pottery while taking fine art in college in 1996. He furthered his instruction of ceramics completing a vocational degree at Montreal’s Centre de céramique Bonsecours in 1998. Working in various cabinet making shops while living in Montreal he also completed 3 years of study at l’École nationale du meuble de Montreal in architectural millwork and cabinetry from 2000 to 2003. A trip to south Korea where he stayed for a few years was an eye opener to the aesthetics of North Asian pottery and he soaked in all he could of its ceramics culture. Now located in Campbell’s Bay, Quebec, he works out of his basement studio. Each year since 2009 he has taken part in the Pontiac Artists Studio Tour. He has also taken part in many shows and exhibitions since starting his pottery business in 2009 among which; 1001 Pots, The New Art Festival, Aylmer Arts Council Shows, Crown and Pumpkin Studio Tour, Red Trillium Studio Tour, Maple Run Studio Tour, Firegifts, The Nepean Christmas Craft Show and the Ottawa Guild of Potter’s spring and fall shows.

"My work is made of stoneware and porcelain clay fired to 1285 Celsius in an oxidation environment. I use high fire glazes layered by trailing them with various implements as well as chattered texture and stamping to add visual interest to the surfaces of my pots. I simply want to make elegant pots that attract the eye, invite to touch and are a pleasure to admire as much as they are to use."
